Tornado Aftermath and Response
April 28, 2014
First, everybody at Dogwood would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to those most impacted by this weekend's tornadoes. While many of us were without power and saw some minor damages, these were mere inconveniences compared to the total devastation and loss experienced by many of our neighbors here in Northeast North Carolina. We commend all of the utility workers and volunteers who have been working tirelessly to help return our community to normal.
Second, we would like for our tenants to know that we are doing everything we can to resolve your issues as quickly as possible. However, we do have to prioritize where we focus our efforts initially. Our first goal is to limit further damage to any of our homes - particularly with a fresh wave of storms rolling in. Our next is to help tenants "get back to normal" as soon as possible. The last priority is to clear downed trees and other minor aesthetic issues. As unsightly as a downed tree might be, we do have to place the clean up after we've addressed more pressing concerns.
Also, with this much damage, it is inevitable that insurance companies will be involved. Therefore, we ask that everybody be patient as we work to coordinate between our tenants, owners, vendors, and insurance companies. This can be a trying process for us all, but it is a process we must go through nonetheless.
Finally, for our owners, we are trying to reach out to everybody. If you have not heard from us by now, you were likely saved the worst of the damage. We are still making assessments, and we will be reaching out to those with the most pressing needs. If you have immediate concerns about your property, do feel free to call us here at the office. We're happy to answer any questions you might have.
